PURPOSE:To surely read characters by performing it in the state of confirming the top and bottom at the time of storing into a computer, to simplify post processing by discriminating the kind of a slip and reading the character at a prescribed position and to exactly and speedily read data by reading the characters after distortion is corrected even when this distortion is generated in the image data. CONSTITUTION:A mark 1a showing the top and bottom is read from a slip 1, where this mark is displayed, as image data, the top and bottom of the slip are recognized from the mark of these read image data, slip characters 1e-1i described in the image data of the slip are recognized by a character recognizing means, a format file for deciding the form of the slip is selected from a format definition body corresponding to the characters and afterwards, the character such as an article number or the number of articles written at the prescribed position of image data is recognized by the character recognizing means. |
