The steam machine has a steam boiler, a cylinder in which is a movable piston, a regulator controlling the steam application from the boiler to the cylinder and a slide control (11) which controls the steam feed and evacuation to and from the cylinder. The slide control incorporates a steam chamber (9) to which steam is fed by means of the regulator and from which steam is controllable to the cylinder by means of a slide control slide (12). The steam machine is provided with a drive control unit (34) capable of stopping the drive of the steam machine by connecting the slide control steam chamber with the atmosphere so that steam is fed via the regulator, which is held wholly or partly open, passes to the atmosphere without driving the piston in the cylinder. |
