PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a biologically active compound, enabling to simplify the production of many specimens for assays and quickly and profitably obtain the subject compound by producing the mixture of biologically active organic commands by the interaction of a starting substance with a high energy source and subsequently subjecting the mixture to biological activity assays. SOLUTION: This method for producing a biologically active compound comprises feeding a starting compound containing at least one kind of organic compound into a plasma discharge reactor at a proper flow rate, exposing the compound to plasma to obtain the mixture of the organic compound products containing at lest one kind of organic compound different from the starting compound, subjecting the product mixture to a biological activity assay, dividing the product mixture into many fractions each containing a small amount of the mixture or mainly one kind of a compound, when a desired activity is detected, further carrying out a biological activity assay for each fraction, and finally identifying an isolated compound exhibiting a desired biological activity.
