Bale discharge means for a rectangular baler

An agricultural baler (10) comprises a baling chamber (18) (18) and pick-up means (14) for collecting crop material from a field and feeding it to conveyor mechanism (20, 22) which transports it into the baling chamber (18). A plunger (24) reciprocates therein for compressing the crop material to a package and a tying mechanism (32) encircles the package with one or more strands of tying material, thereby forming a completed bale. The baler (10) comprises bale discharge means (36) disposed at the outlet (28) of said baling chamber (18), said bale discharge means being movable between an extended position for receiving said completed bale and depositing it onto the field and a retracted position for reducing the overall length of said baler (10). In the retracted position, a rear portion (38) of said bale discharge means is rested on a support (92) on top of said baling chamber (18). The discharge means (36) are held in their retracted position by the rear portion (38) itself. <IMAGE>
