PURPOSE: A method of inhibiting reactivity of carbon dioxide with fine coal briquette by coating bentonite on the surface of fine coal briquette is provided which can reuse fine coal in a corex process. CONSTITUTION: Fine coal briquette is dipped in 5-30 weight% of bentonite suspension and heated by a hot blast. For an example, a modified experimental electric furnace consisted of a heating source(1)(Kanthal super 33), an alumina reactor(2)(I.D.:100 mm. O.D.:110 mm) and a load cell(3) for measuring a weight change during reaction is used to examine the effect of a surface coater influencing the reactivity of CO2 with fine coal briquette under the same conditions, controlled within a plus or minus 2°C of a laying temperature by a PID controller and heated to 1,200°C in supplying nitrogen. Briquette is charged into the reactor when the temperature of the reactor reaches 1,200°C and nitrogen is supplied to the reactor from the bottom of the reactor. Nitrogen is substituted to carbon dioxide by pouring CO2 at a speed of 5 ml/min. The effect of fine coal briquette on reactivity of CO2 is shown in graph 2.
