PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording medium which shows high sensitivity and outstanding resistance to heat, light and water. SOLUTION: This thermal recording medium is characterized in that a bis-(3- aryl-4-hydroxyphenyl) sulfone is used as a developer and a 2-(2'-hydroxy-5'- methylphenyl) benzotriazole as a sensitizer and a 3-(N-ethyl-4'-toluidino)-6- methyl-7-anilinofluoran or a 3-diethylamino-7-(m-trifluoromethyl)-anilinofluoran as dye.
