PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good visibility for selection items and facilitate setting points. SOLUTION: The apparatus has an information memory means 3 for storing map data, a display means 6 for displaying a map plotted on the basis of the map data, an input means 1 for moving the map and, setting and inputting points, and a control means 4 for controlling to plot the map and move the map in accordance with an input of the input means 1, to display to indicate a point on the map by a cursor mark, and to set the point indicated by the cursor mark. The control means 4 determines a selection item for setting the point on the map in accordance with a type indicated by the cursor mark, displays the determined selection item to the periphery of the cursor mark of the display means and sets the point by an operation from the point in a direction in which the selection item is displayed.
