PURPOSE: To provide an organic electroluminescent device having excellent green light emitting efficiency, emitting luminance, color purity and the like. CONSTITUTION: The organic electroluminescent device has an organic film layer between a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and the organic film layer contains a 1,3,6,8-four substitution pyrene compound to be represented by structural formula (1) £wherein R¬1 to R¬4 may be the same or different from one another and is each a group to be represented by structural formula (2) (wherein R¬5 and R¬6 may be the same or different from each other and is each a hydrogen atom or a substituent)| as a light emitting material.
