<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling structure which can prevent the infiltration of dust, rain water, etc., without lowering its cooling power, and to provide a power converter using the structure. <P>SOLUTION: The power converter has a board frame 2, partitions 8a and 8b partitioning the frame 2, and a heat pipe 9 passing through the partitions 8a and 8b and having a heat radiating section 7 above the partitions 8a and 8b. The converter also has an electric component 6 provided below the partitions 8a and 8b, an inlet port 4 and exhaust port 5 directly communicating with the outside in a door 3a provided above the partitions 8a and 8b, and communicative ports 11 and 12 which communicate the portion where the heat radiating section 7 is provided with the portion where the electric component 6 is provided through the partitions 8a and 8b. In addition, the converter also has a guide plate 10 in the communicative port 11 which becomes the intake side. Consequently, the electric component 6 can be cooled not only through the heat absorption and dissipation by means of the heat pipe 9, but also by the natural convection of introduced air by introducing the air from the outside into the whole interior of the board frame 2.
