A storage medium used for automatically starting up a system by loading it and for realizing quick purchase of one of various pieces of service information through a network, and information managing method and an information processing system both using such a storage medium are disclosed. The information processing system in which a large quantity of information including images, music, audio, documents can be handled at high rate and which includes a network, wherein service information to which a lock key 1 (A01) for lock is added is stored on a detachable disk having at least an information storage area where information is stored, and the lock key is opened (3)(4) when the disk is connected (1) to a computer on a network and if purchase of the service information stored on the disk is confirmed (2).
