The method of refrigerating particulate solids involves convectively permanently cooling the center of the mass of particulate on a cold wall (11) extending in the conveying direction. The mass is simultaneously subjected to a through flow of a cooling gas (20) to fluidize it without use of a condenser. The gas also increases the heat exchange rate of the cold wall. Claims include a cooling machine using the method.
