Method for signal evaluation of an opto-electronic path or angle measurement device with light source and opto- electronic transducer sensor array arranged on either side of a moving code disk. The method includes steps for matching the evaluation or measurement parameter signal amplitudes to changing conditions. Method involves measurement of a reference signal amplitude, evaluation of the reference signal amplitude and matching the amplitude evaluation relevant parameters.
