PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inhibitor against sugar protein synthesis useful as a medicinal composition having antiviral activity, immunosuppressive activity or antitumor activity. SOLUTION: A mycophenolic acid analog F13459 isolated from a culture solution of Penicillium sp. The compound has the structure of the formula, and inhibits the synthesis and intracellular transmission of a viral sugar protein.
