PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reasonable garbage disposer whose electricity expense interested for a user is lowered and is not so high regardless of highest performance. SOLUTION: This garbage disposer 6 is provided with a heating means 2 for heating the inside of a garbage treating tank 1, an agitation means 3 for agitating and crushing garbage, a ventilation means 4 for ventilating the tank 1 for removing steam, gas or the like generated in the inside and a garbage treating material 5 for decomposing the garbage packed in the tank 1. Furthermore the device 6 has a control means 8 by which the device 6 can be put in such a normal operation mode that the garbage is treated in normal power consumption or in such a power-saving operation mode that the garbage is treated by controlling at least one means of the means 2, 3, 4 so that the power consumption is made lower than that of the normal operation mode and which has a power-saving switch means 7 for shifting from the normal operation mode to the power-saving operation mode.
