The hinge contains a pivotally mounted fastener (220) with a locating space (230) for a peripheral surface region (240) of the glass pane (210) and an adjoining first edge surface region (260) of the pane. A second edge surface region (270) on the opposite side of the pane is not covered by the fastener. Adhesive is used to secure the peripheral and first edge surface regions of the pane to the fastener. The element contains at least one glass pane with a hinge joined to it.
