A tread splice apparatus for a tire is provided to automatically perform tread jointing and splicing operations, to reduce labor loads of a worker and to improve productivity. The tread splice apparatus for a tire joints treads(2) via a tread splice roll(3), which tread is cut in an equal length at a service area and is supplied to a belt drum(1). The splice roll is connected to a link connected to an up/down cylinder via a hinge. A splice cylinder(7) moves an LM block along an LM guide rail in front and rear directions. An overlap joint detector(12) is provided at one side of a splice body(10) via a connecting member(11). The overlap joint detector is connected to a detecting roll(13) and a support portion via a hinge and is elastically supported by a spring. The overlap joint detector includes a detecting bracket integrally operating with the detecting roll, and first and second sensors spaced away from each other.
