An apparatus for generating sounds in an electronic equipment having a noise cancellation mode is provided to effectively cancel peripheral noises by generating an inverse phase signal for noise together with the original sound signal. An apparatus for generating sounds in an electronic equipment having a noise cancellation mode is comprised of a noise detection unit(33), an original sound signal generation unit, a noise cancellation unit(48), and a sound generation unit(35). The noise detection unit(33) detects a noise signal generated in an spatial environment on which an electric equipment is exposed. The original sound signal generation unit generates an original sound signal. The noise cancellation unit(48) generates the original sound signal, generated from the original sound signal generation unit, and the inverse phase signal of the noise signal at the same time in order to cancel noise. The sound generation unit(35) generates the noise-cancelled sound.
