A film formed from polyethylene or polypropylene comprises a zeolite as an anti-blocking agent. The primary particles of the zeolite have a diameter of less than 0.4 microns and aggregate to form secondary particles having a diameter of less than 0.4 microns. Typically, the zeolite has a refractive index of about 1.50. The primary particles may be round and substantially free from sharp edges and the secondary particles may have a linear chain structure. A method of producing an anti-blocking masterbatch by adding the particulate zeolite into a polyethylene or polypropylene resin during polymerisation is disclosed. The zeolite may be coated with a migrating agent, such as erucamide at a temperature of 40-70{C. A masterbatch for the production of a polyethylene or polypropylene film is also described, which comprises 5-10 wt.% of the anti-blocking zeolite. An organic blocking agent, such as oleamide or erucamide may be included. |
