PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an elevator, capable of securely detecting a sensor ON-failure even in such a failure mode that a door sensor installed on a door of a car has an ON-failure while the door is opening. SOLUTION: The door sensor 4 to detect passengers is installed on the door 10 of the car, and the door of the car is opened/closed under control in accordance with detection action of the door sensor. It is provided with a sensor failure detection circuit 1 for providing a sensor action detection section for a prescribed time period before or after the door of the car is fully opened, memorizing that the door sensor is constantly operating in the detection section, and detecting existence of memory of door sensor action at the timing when the elevator starts traveling for a prescribed number of times continuously to be detected as a sensor ON failure.
