PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet conveying device capable of surely detecting a tip and a rear end of a sheet by using one reflection type sensor without making a distinction between normal paper sheets and OHP sheets. SOLUTION: The sheet conveying device 30 is structured of a resist roller 13, a conveying roller 21, a sheet conveying passage 22 and the reflection type sensor 23. The reflection type sensor 23 is arranged so that the optical axis L of the light to be emitted form a light emitting surface forms the predetermined angle between a lower conveying guide 22a and an upper conveying guide 22b constituting the sheet conveying passage 22.
