The ring (1) has an inner surface (10) turned toward a ring groove, two side surfaces (13,14) and an outer surface (12). The height of the piston ring at the outer surface is larger than the height of the piston ring at the inner surface. Two inner angles (3,4) are formed at the side surfaces. A side piece forms an angle of 20 degrees with respect to the axis direction, and another side piece forms an angle of 5 degrees with respect to the radial direction of the piston ring. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a piston ring.
