A method for providing a scroll mode of navigation and a navigation system for executing the method are provided to provide the same path guide with a real driving during a virtual drive by updating a virtual map and guiding a path following the updated virtual map. A navigation system for executing a method for providing a scroll mode of navigation includes a virtual map data generating unit(201), a path guiding unit(202), a vector signal input unit(203), a virtual map data updating unit(204), and a path search manager(205). The virtual map data generating unit generates a virtual map data relating certain guiding points. The path guiding unit guides the path relating the generated virtual map data. The vector signal input unit receives a certain vector signal and the virtual map data updating unit updates the virtual map data in accordance with the input vector signal. The path guiding unit guides the path relating the updated virtual map data. The path search manager generates a driven path according to a direction key input and reflects the path to the path search data.
