METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING POWER FOR HEATING ROLLER

A power control method and a power control apparatus for a heating roller are provided to reduce a flicker phenomenon and increase a surface temperature of the heating roller to a fixing target temperature in a short time. A source power is supplied to a heating resistor as a roller power while gradually increasing the maximum level of the source power up to a predetermined maximum supply level(410). A surface temperature of a heating roller is measured, and then the source power at the maximum supply level is supplied to the heating resistor as the roller power until the measured surface temperature reaches a predetermined fixing target temperature(420). If a printing apparatus receives a printing command and the roller power is normally supplied, a toner image of data is transferred onto a printing medium by using the heating roller(430). Herein, the supplying of the source power is performed right after an image forming apparatus is turned on, or right after the image forming apparatus is switched from a standby mode to a print mode.
