The high temperature sensor has a resistance sensor and a protective tube (7). A high temperature sensor element is provided in front area of the protective pipe, which is connected in gas-tight manner with the protective tube over an intermediate part made of metal. The metal part is provided with an outer folded edge, and the high temperature sensor element has a ceramic part, which is formed as ceramic sleeve (3) with a closed base, in which a high temperature chip is located. The high temperature chip has sensor connecting wires (2.2), which are provided with a mechanical protection. An independent claim is also included for a method for the production of a high temperature sensor with a resistance sensor and a protective pipe.
