PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially desirable method for producing cycloalkanols and cycloalkanones which exhibits high decomposition activity and high selectivity for objective products. SOLUTION: The method for producing cycloalkanols and cycloalkanones comprises decomposing a cycloalkyl hydroperoxide in the presence of an imidazole complex represented by formula (I): [MXn(Het)m] (wherein M is copper, cobalt, or iron; X is a Broensted base; Het is an unsubstituted or substituted imidazole compound; n is an integer of 1-3; and m is an integer of 1-4).
