The arrangement has a control circuit (22) to determine a time base for a lamp operation and to control a drive circuit (21), based on switching-on and off time of a power supply. A device (23) detects and/or measures time period between switching-off and reswitching-on the supply. The circuit (22) considers information transmitted by the device during the determination of the time base. The circuit (22) is connected upstream of a comparator to measure capacitor voltage.
