The electronic appts. includes a base (2) which is connected to the mains and has two contacts (8,9) for supplying DC from its bridge rectifier (6) and a smoothing capacitor (7) to corresponding contacts (10,11) on the underside of the removable part (3). The latter incorporates an electronic circuit (12) which is fed via a first diode (13) from the base when these contacts are made, and via a second diode (14) from inbuilt lower voltage batteries (15,16) when the contacts are separated.
