Novel polypeptides and nucleic acids encoding the same

An isolated nucleic acid having at least 80% sequence identity to a nucleotide sequence that encodes a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence in Figure 2 (SEQ ID NO:2) is described. Preferably the nucleotide sequence comprises the nucleotide sequence shown in Figure 1 (SEQ ID NO:1), or comprises the full length coding sequence of the DNA deposited under accession number ATCC 209791, ATTC 203242 or ATCC 203243. Also described are vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acid, process to produce the polypeptide and antibodies directed towards the polypeptide. The antibodies can be used in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of neoplastic cell growth, while a nucleic acid which can hybridise to the complement to the nucleic acids described above can be used in the preparation of a medicament for the inhibition of tumour cell growth. Methods for diagnosing tumors and identifying compounds capable of inhibiting the expression or activity of the polypeptide and cancer diagnostic kits are also described.
