1. A method for guiding installation of a monitoring device, comprising:
receiving, by the monitoring device, during installation of the monitoring device at a particular location within a structure, an input command to test whether an instant placement of the monitoring device would prevent the monitoring device from operating within specification to detect one or more conditions; implementing, by the monitoring device in response to receiving the input command, a test sequence to determine whether the instant placement of the monitoring device would prevent the monitoring device from operating within specification to detect the one or more conditions; and outputting, by the monitoring device, based on the test sequence, a particular notification that the instant placement of the monitoring device would prevent the monitoring device from operating within specification to detect the one or more conditions.
