FIELD: agriculture and forestry, in particular, reclamation of used peat for plant growing and forestation. SUBSTANCE: method involves leveling peat surface before plowing operation; providing breaking plowing and laying turned layers of peat and underlying ground layers one onto another with inclination of 40-70 deg to horizontal layer; determining depth of mineral ground to be plowed through from formula: Hgr = [Hp.rhogr.(Accm-Acp)]/[rhogr.(Acgr-Accm)], where Hgr is thickness of plowed-through mineral ground, m; Hp is thickness of residual peat layer after leveling operation, m; rhop is peat density, kg/cu.m; rhogr is density of mineral ground, kg/cu.m; Acp is peat cinder content, %; Acgr is cinder content of underlying layer, %; Accm is cinder content of peat and underlying layer mixture, %.
