<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tungsten carbide single phase high purity binderless tungsten carbide type super-hard material having high density, high hardness, high strength and wear resistance and anticorrosion, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The tungsten carbide type super-hard material is obtained by sintering a raw material powder of which the average particle diameter is less than 0.3μm. The resulting sintered compact has a theoretical density ratio of 99.0% or more and has the total content of carbon (C) within a range of greater than 6.20wt.% to 6.45wt.% or less and is substantially free of the binder and ditungsten monocarbide (W<SB>2</SB>C), wherein the raw material powder is sintered by the pulse conducting pressurized sintering method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
