<p>Prodn. of fuel gas (esp. high-Btu gas) comprises (a) gasifying solid and/or liq. fossil fuels with O2 produced by electolysis of H2O, and (b) mixing the prduct gas with the electrolytically produced H2. The waste heat from the process can be converted into electrical energy in a thermal power station, which can also be fuelled with part of the product gas. Addn. of electrolytic H2 reduces by 1/3 the amt. of fossil fuel required to produce a gas with a given CH4 content (after shift conversion and methanation), effective use is made of by-produced O2.</p> |
