<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer in which total print time can be shortened by shortening the time required for sheet feed operation. <P>SOLUTION: Upon receiving a page information command indicative of a specified number of skew steps and a specified number of TOF steps from a host unit, the printer sets the number of driving skew steps and the number of driving TOF steps. Upon receiving a sheet feed command indicative of the specified number of fast feed steps from the host unit, the printer sets the number of driving fast feed steps, performs a pick operation and a skew operation by rotary driving a feed motor in one direction based on a preset number of driving pick steps and a set number of driving skew steps, and further performs a TOF operation and a fast feed operation by rotary driving the feed motor in the other direction without varying the rotational speed based on the sum of a set number of driving TOF steps and a set number of driving fast feed steps. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
