Process for the immobilisation of microbial cells, immobilised microbial cells in the form of an enzyme preparation, and process for converting glucose into fructose

A process for the immobilisation of microbial cells which have glucose isomerase activity is described. The immobilisation of the microbial cells is carried out by a glutaraldehyde-induced polymerisation which takes place in the presence of protein carriers. The protein carriers used are blood serum or blood plasma which is generally obtained from slaughtered animals. The immobilised microbial cells prepared by this process can be in the form of an enzyme preparation. In a process for the conversion of glucose into fructose, a glucose solution which contains activators is passed through a reaction column which contains an enzyme preparation of this type. By comparison with previously disclosed corresponding immobilised microbial cells having glucose isomerase activity, those prepared by the process described here have a longer useful life and better heat resistance.
