A sprocket chain is described with links comprising plates (2) connected by pins (4, 6) and with double pitch which is variable during running, with guide rollers (20), on shafts (19) parallel to the pins (4, 6), on each second link and lever devices (14-17) on each second link, with the guide rollers (20) as fulcrums for tilting the chain links (10) with respect to the travel direction. <IMAGE>
