The bird-scaring device achieves its aim by bird-scaring means which are fastened on carrying arms, which rotate periodically, or on cable pulls, which move periodically. In addition, the bird-scaring device can be supplemented with loudspeakers which generate and propagate bird-scaring sounds. A relatively slowly running gear motor (1) tensions a spring-loading means (3) and, once a specific torque has been reached, the latter drives a rotatable part (7 and 6) of the device at a relatively high speed. The carrying arms (9) or a crank mechanism with cable pull are/is fastened on said rotatable part. After the spring-loading means (3) has been relieved of tension, it is stopped (10) again and re-tensioned from the constantly running gear motor (1), and this cycle is repeated constantly. <IMAGE>
