The seat cushion (7) of a vehicle seat, especially of an air passenger seat, lies on a cushion support that is supported by parts of the seat frame. This cushion support lies lower in the area which supports the sitting part of the seat than in the area situated in front of this. The cushion support is designed as a shell (6), which forms a depression (13) in the region which supports the sitting part of the seat, said depression being matched to the shape of the human seat. The depression (13) may include two trough-shaped run-outs (14) which extend towards the front corner regions of the shell. The shell (6) may include a ramp (18) which rises from the depression to the front region (15) of the shell and is effective in preventing an occupant from sliding through under the seat belt in a case a severe deceleration. The rear edge (11) of shell (6) may include a downwardly open trough for placing on the rear transverse strut (5) of the seat frame, and the front edge of shell (6) may be angled downwards and lie behind the front transverse strut (3) of the frame. <IMAGE> |
