The ball-cock comprises a plug with driving spindle in bearings in a two-part housing, together with seals for spindle and plug. The spindle and plug seals are both pre-loaded by spring components in the housing. The latter, the plug and the spindle are so designed as to allow easy and rapid seal- replacement. The components can be plate- or coil-springs or spring washers. The housing bore accommodating the spindle can be in several sections of different dias. The plug seals for operating temps. between -200 deg.C and +250 deg.C can be of plastic such as PTFE or PTFE with filler materials. For temps. between -200 deg.C and +600 deg.C metal and graphite seals are used together. ADVANTAGE - Low cost and prevents environmental damage.
