PURPOSE:To prevent ink from overflowing a cap component by a method wherein waste ink preserved in the cap component is certainly recovered into a waste ink tank. CONSTITUTION:A second pump composed of a compression spring 7, a bellows 8, a check valve 9, etc., and a cam mechanism composed of a driving shaft 6, a cam 5, and a following plate 3 for the purpose of driving the second pump are provided to a cap 2. When waste ink in a recording head 20 is fed by pressure from a discharge opening as not given in the figure with a first pump as not given in the figure under a state wherein the cap 2 is covered with a discharge opening surface 20a of a recording head 20, the waste ink is preserved in the cap 2. Then, the waste ink in time cap 2 is certainly recovered in a waste ink tank by pressure feeding the waste ink in the cap 2 unto the waste ink tank as not given in the figure with a second pump. |
