PURPOSE:To provide a compact and stable short wavelength laser light source having a high output. CONSTITUTION:An optical wavelength converter 22 of an LiTaO3 substrate of a Z plate formed with a semiconductor laser 21, an optical waveguide 2 and a polarized inverting layer 3 is mounted on an LiNbO3 submount 20. A light from the laser 21 is incident on the waveguide 2, and converted to a harmonic wave P2 through a wavelength converter 26 in the waveguide 2. In this case, a fundamental wave from the laser 21 is rotated at a polarized light by 90 degrees by a protrusion l which performs a role of a half-wavelength plate, and incident on the waveguide 2. Thus, the fundamental wave from the laser is guided through the waveguide formed at the converter of the Z plate in a high efficiency, and a short wavelength light source is operated to produce a high output. |
