The flipper has a flap (4) at the end of its fin (3) which has a hydrodynamic shape and is in the same plane as the fin at rest. The fin is divided by two longitudinal slots (5) into a central part (6) and two more supple lateral parts (7). The flap is joined to the ends of the lateral parts and moves above and below the plane of the fin when the fin is moved. The central part of the fin is reinforced by longitudinal ribs (8). The lateral parts can have thinner ribs or fewer ribs.
