The film negative (1) passes successively through a DX 6 code reader acting as film identification device, a film negative scanner (2) acting as measurement device for the film density, a storage section (3) and a printing paper exposure position (4). An exposure control (5) controls the printing paper exposure position (4) on the bases of the conversion data and the density information measured by the film scanner (2). The copying appartus has a normal printing mode for negative film (1) and a correction mode for adjusting the apparatus. One of these operating modes is selected by means of a keyboard (51), enabling orders and data to be entered. The DX code reader (6) reads the identity code recorded on the film and transmits identification information to the exposure control (5).
