PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as a reactive coalescent. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by the formula [R is (CH2 )n R<1> , (CH2 )2 O ((CH2 )2 OH, (CH2 CH2 O)2 (CH2 )3 OH, CH2 CH2 OCOR<2> , (CH2 )2 O(CH2 )2 O(CH2 )3 CH3 , CH2 CH(CH3 )OH, CH2 CH2 OCO(CH2 )4 COOR<3> or dicyclopentenyloxyethane (R<1> is H, OH or CH3 ; R<2> is a 1-6C alkyl; R<3> is CH3 or dicyclopentenyl oxyethane; (n) is 2-10)] such as dicyclopentenyloxyethyl butyrate. The compound of the formula such as the example compound is obtained by transesterifying cyclopentenyl oxyethanol with methyl butyrate in the presence of tetraethylhexyl titanate. |
