摘要 PURPOSE: An optical amplifier of a WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) system using an optical channel monitoring function is provided to enhance amplification characteristics by automatically calculating an output gain of an optical signal whenever the optical signal is inputted. CONSTITUTION: An optical multiplexing unit(1) multiplexes optical signals of a long wavelength and a short wavelength and outputs them. A short wavelength optical power measuring unit(2) measures optical signal power of a C-bandwidth of an optical wavelength signal outputted from the optical multiplexing unit(1) and outputs it. A long wavelength optical power measuring unit(3) measures optical signal power of an L-bandwidth of a optical wavelength signal outputted from the optical multiplexing unit(1) and outputs it. A calculation controller(4) calculates a difference value between the optical power respectively inputted from the short wavelength optical power measuring unit(2) and the long wavelength optical power measuring unit(3) and outputs it. A transmission optical amplifier(5) corrects optical wavelength signal outputs of the optical multiplexing unit(1) according to a gain correction signal and optically amplifies it to output it. A reception optical amplifier(7) is connected to the transmission amplifier(5) and an optical demultiplexing unit(8) is connected to the reception optical amplifier(7).
