PRODUCTION OF PRIMARY AMINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a primary amine and its alkylene oxide adduct having good hue in high yield. SOLUTION: A primary amine is produced by the hydrogenation of a nitrile using a Raney catalyst containing Ni, Al and Mo at atomic ratios of 90-96 wt.% for Ni, 3-9 wt.% for Al and 0.5-3 wt.% for Mo based on the sum of these atoms. An alkylene oxide adduct of the primary amine can be produced by adding an alkylene oxide to the obtained primary amine.
