A BEARING ARRANGEMENT FOR A SHAFT

A bearing arrangement for supporting a sealing bellows around a shaft in a manner permitting axial and angular motion, and incorporating a first, inner bearing sleeve (3), a standard rolling bearing (2) fitted with its inner race ring around said first sleeve (3) and with one end face engaging a shoulder (4) in the inner sleeve (3), and a second, outer bearing sleeve (7), sealing means provided in a space between said first and second bearing sleeves (3, 7), beside the rolling bearing, and a flexible elongated bellows (12) intended to enclose a portion of a shaft (1) and sealingly connected at one of its ends to the outer envelope surface of the second, outer bearing sleeve (7), and having means (16, 18) for attachment of its opposite end to a fitting (14) of a machine member (15) from which the shaft (1) projects, wherein the second, outer bearing sleeve (7) is a sheet metal sleeve provided with an inwardly bent flange portion (8), forming an engagement surface for the opposite side face of the rolling bearing (2), the bellows (12) being fixedly attachable to the second, outer sleeve (7) by being bonded to the outer envelope surface thereof by vulcanisation, the bearing sleeves (3, 7), the bearing (2), with sealing means (6, 11) thereby forming a united machine member.
