PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water treatment equipment using a separation membrane module, capable of continuing a steady filtering operation, and to provide a operating method therefor. SOLUTION: This water treatment equipment is provided with a separation membrane module 3 installed in a water-to-be-treated tank 1, and an aeration means 4 installed below the separation membrane module 3 in the water-to-be- treated tank 1. The water treatment equipment has a water-to-be-treated supply line 6 for supplying the water-to-be-treated from the lower part of the aeration means 4 into the water-to-be-treated tank 1.
