The system comprises a computer (8) connected to an electronic database (1) containing an environmental dossier (1a-1c) for each license holder (3a-3c). The dossier contains information relating to the environmental licenses granted to the license holder by an authority, the regulations (6) linked to these licenses, the tasks to be carried out continuously and optionally periodically in relation to these regulations (e.g. investigations or measurements) and the results of these tasks and any related information. The computer operating software allows a dossier to be consulted following authorisation by the license holder. The computer and database connected to it can be consulted via a telecommunications and/or computer network (10). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Data carrier provided with software for use on the computer in this system; and (2) Environmental license management method.
