An internal combustion engine having a variable valve drive system for driving at least one valve by rotation of a camshaft comprising at least one rocker arm, wherein a pivot of the rocker arm is displaceable to vary an amount of valve lift, and wherein a rocker shaft of the rocker arm constituting the pivot is movable on a substantially circular path having its center in a rotational axis of the camshaft.
