<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device that can assist a musical performance so that even a music beginner, a child who does not have a skill in playing a musical instrument and a musical instrument lover can easily participate in a band musical performance and experience original interest in an ensemble. <P>SOLUTION: A music playing tempo is detected all the time based upon musical performance information inputted from an input means and on the basis of the detected playing tempo, a tempo clock as a reference clock for managing the progression of a musical piece is outputted. Assist definition sequence data prescribing how conversion tables are switched according to the progression of the musical piece are stored. Conversion is performed based upon a specified conversion table and the result is outputted.
